The Travel Coach – a guide for intentional travel

The Travel Coach is an online resource guide and coaching service for globetrotters who want to be more intentional in their journeys. Through travel tips, planning checklists, conversation guides, and private one-on-one coaching, The Travel Coach helps people uncover their travel goals, connect with their travel companions, and practice mindfulness throughout their journey so they can return home feeling more fulfilled.

After spending decades in the travel industry, David Alport realized that many people who supposedly loved traveling seemed to come home feeling depleted and disappointed. So, David founded The Travel Coach in 2018 to help people identify and realize their travel intentions more fully.

The Challenge

With a website built, David was ready to share his one-of-a-kind service with the world. There were just two problems:

  1. David didn’t have the content to establish a social media presence. Though he had social handles reserved, The Travel Coach didn’t have much of a digital footprint because David didn’t have a media library of custom content to share – let alone the time to craft compelling posts.
  2. The Travel Coach’s brand voice wasn’t well defined. In the crowded travel space, it’s hard to stand out. Especially when it comes to social media. David needed to distinguish himself by narrowing in on his target audience with a distinct brand voice and laser-focused messaging that could help people better understand his novel service.

A social media marketing strategy and iterative audience analysis to develop and evolve a distinct brand identity.

We accomplished this by:

  • creating custom content for social media and downloadable assets
  • developing the brand voice to appeal to our target audience of mindful travelers
  • conducting a thorough website copy overhaul to clarify The Travel Coach’s purpose and unique value proposition
  • generating travel guides, newsletter templates, and other brand assets that reinforced the brand aesthetic and tone
  • analyzing social media data to continue customizing our content & refining our voice to appeal to TTC’s target audience.

The Results

In the course of this 6 month project, we increased The Travel Coach’s social media following by a whopping 237%! Though the social media budget limited us to using stock photography, we were able to create custom templates and content themes that established an approachable brand personality. More importantly, we laid the foundation for an authentic and engaged community of mindful travelers.

The website overhaul left David with clear messaging that established the value of TTC’s services, while the content creation process lead to a cohesive aesthetic that unified the brand’s diverse assets.

Finally, by tracking analytics and engagement, we were able to gain insights on TTC’s target audience and continuously refine our content to appeal to this specific demographic. These insights would go on to inform our content strategy and brand development for months to come.
