Below are a few samples of my copywriting for email marketing. In most cases, I collaborate with my clients to develop email campaigns that align with their larger marketing goals. In some cases, I also helped with the design.
While I feel comfortable using email tools such as Mailchimp or Ontraport, I typically outline the email structure, draft the copy, and hand it off to my client, who then builds and schedules the email themselves.
My favorite part of email marketing is helping my clients develop simple drip campaigns that grow their email lists and engage their audiences.

SlowFood is a global grassroots organization that promotes the creation of a good, clean, and fair food system. I just so happen to be a part of the local chapter and as the Communications director, I manage our monthly newsletter as well as event announcements and other emails.
The apple press is a community project near and dear to our hearts, so this email was sent as a call to arms inviting our members to volunteer at the press in the last warm days of autumn.
Though our chapter is small, the members are fiercely committed to our case. As such, this newsletter had an open rate of 53.2% and a click-through rate of 2%. We also pressed a record number of gleaned apples this year thanks to our dedicated volunteers.

The purpose of this email was to encourage our audience to meet us at the Collision Conference in Toronto if they planned to attend, or encourage them to follow along on social media as we shared insights from the conference.
Rather than just sending another annoying email asking our followers for something, we wanted to provide value. So, we decided to highlight some events we thought would appeal to our audience and offer tips to make their conversations and connections as impactful as possible.
This particular email was well received, with an open rate of 67.7% and a click-through rate of 38.7% (both well above the industry standard). It also resulted in a small bump in our social following on LinkedIn (our primary channel).

Though this email was on the long side, it boasts entrapeer’s highest click-through rate to date at 41.9%.
Two months post-launch, entrapeer recognized that they had valuable insights to share regarding their experience creating a SaaS innovation platform. So, drawing from customer queries and our own firsthand experience, we drafted a blog post to share these insights.
This email was designed to educate our corporate and startup audiences and to drive them to our blog, where they can read the remaining 2 tips. This email was particularly well-received and thus inspired a series of “listicle” style blogs that inform and empower our customers to innovate.

Soul Shoppe had a loyal following and a large email list. But they weren’t engaging this audience as much as they could.
Together we had created a number of email campaigns promoting their free events or fundraisers, but we realized that we were asking a lot of our audience without giving much back in return. So we decided to start sending regular educational, motivational, and appreciative emails without any specific CTA. Just to show that we cared.
While I don’t have the performance data for Soul Shoppe’s emails, this one was by far our most popular. Soul Shoppe’s founder, Vicki Abadesco, reported receiving numerous emails from the community thanking us for sending out such positivity and support amidst challenging times.
